Collaboration is key - with ciob

The first in a series of events with CIOB Wales.  The theme of this one is Collaboration and the event started with a short presentation from Rhys Lewis, co-chair of UKBIMA Wales followed by briefing from Nigel Davies about the upcoming Back to BIM Basics campaign being delivered by the UK BIM Alliance.

BIM Manager Ian Massey then talked through the approach that Bouygues have followed by a round table discussion led by Gerald Naylor.  You can watch the recording here.

Rhys Lewis

Empowering clients and stakeholders to create better experiences in design, construction and facilities management encourages better collaboration amongst teams resulting in more intelligent and useful assets.

Delivering innovative technology to the construction sector is something Rhys is passionate about and has a lot of experience in doing this successfully. His career has seen him embrace challenging roles with Europe’s largest Autodesk Reseller – Excitech, an Industry leading engineering firm – Arup and his now current role as Development Director for Revizto a Collaboration and Coordination technology developer.

Nick Tune

Nick is Digital Engineering Director at Atkins and chairman of Down to Earth Construction. He has a proven track record of digital innovation within the construction industry.

Nick has led the development and delivery of many digital services and products whilst at BRE as Group Director of Digital and Data and Director of BuildingSMART UK and is currently supporting the construction supply chain to share and utilise data via his tools at coBuilder. As a previous board member of buildingSMART International and exec member of the UK BIM Alliance Nick is an active supporter of the BIM delivery programme in the UK.

Antony Brophy

Antony’s innate passion for problem solving and making things led him to study Three-Dimensional Design, it was this designer/maker degree course that encouraged him to innovate and learn about technology, material science and manufacturing.

A pragmatic innovator with 26 years’ combined experience within the construction and building services industry enables him to engage this passion in his current role as Business Development Director at Cobuilder UK. Delivering digital transformation, empowering people to think differently and work in new ways, providing people with the right tools for the task in-hand and assist with better informed decision making

Lewis Cullinane

Lewis (IEng ACIBSE) is the Digital Engineering Manager at Hydrock Consultants, having worked at Hydrock since 2016. Lewis is responsible for the implementation of Digital Engineering across the business at a strategic level and ensuring this is filtered throughout the divisions and products of Hydrock appropriately. Lewis, sitting in the Innovation Delivery team, has been key to developing the standards, resources and protocols in information management along with our authoring software within the group, through applying his knowledge and experience to help deliver the best value for the Hydrock’s clients. Lewis chairs the Hydrock BIM Steering Group to further embed digital transformation and innovation into the company, and also advises on a number of other external steering panels such as the Society of Digital Engineering within CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers).  

Dan Rossiter

Chartered Architectural Technologist Dan Rossiter is an active supporter of the built environment at the national and international level. Nationally, Dan provides digital transformation thought leadership at the British Standards Institution and is an ambassador for the UK BIM Alliance. Internationally, Dan contributes to buildingSMART working groups and convenes CEN and ISO terminology working groups.

All of Dan’s knowledge and expertise is applied to his award-winning blog “There’s No BIM Like Home”. Where the full information management process was applied to his own mid-terrace home in South Wales; practicing what he preaches through a transparency, plain language and engaging example.

Andrew Joss

Andrew graduated as an Architectural Technologist in 2007. He is currently the BIM Manager at Rio Architects, with over 13 years of experience in various sectors including Education, Healthcare, Student Accommodation, High Rise buildings and shared residential accommodation. Over the years, having worked as the BIM manager in various national practices, Andrew has developed exemplar BIM protocols and regularly provides training to staff to ensure their continual development relating to current BIM and modelling practices. He oversees the BIM implementation on all projects within the company and ensures the delivery of coordinated information from early design through to handover.

He is passionate about helping others realise the benefits of Digital Technologies and BIM. He is instrumental in collaborating with design teams and engaging clients, helping them with their journey to digital transformation.
